Just across the river from Pittsburgh’s Cultural District and next to the new North Shore, you’ll find Deutschtown, also known as East Allegheny. This neighborhood’s history goes back to the 18th century. This area was developed between 1850 and 1900 by immigrants who were almost exclusively German, which gave rise to the name Deutschtown. This area is adorned with international food restaurants, colorful murals, the Allegheny Commons Park that is actually Pittsburgh’s oldest park and is home to Lake Elizabeth, and the Deutschtown Music Festival.

Please join us on August 20th for a walking food tour of the North Side. We will be walking to different restaurants and learning about the rich history of each restaurant. Also, on the tour, we will discover some hidden gems and photogenic locations the North Side has been hiding.

Agenda for the evening:

5:00 pm - Meet at Siempre Algo
5:40 pm - Park House
6:25 pm - Max’s Allegheny Tavern
7:10 pm - End at Verdetto's

PYP will provide taste tests at each restaurant, but PYP members are encouraged to enjoy additional food and beverage on their own.

There is street parking available around the destinations and is free after 6 p.m. We will begin on East Ohio Street and be ending our evening on Madison Ave. If you arrive early enough, you may want to park in the vicinity of Madison Ave.

Dress: Comfortable walking shoes and clothing. Business Casual is also fine.

Note: You can join us at any one of the restaurants we have on the agenda.
