Giving Back: Preparing & Serving a Meal at Family House (members only)

As we near Thanksgiving, we often think about how thankful we are for our families, friends, and how fortunate we are to have everything we need to feel safe and comfortable. It’s the time of year to think about what you are thankful for and for giving back to those who need help, who may not be as fortunate as you are in life.

Please join PYP Community Outreach Committee on November 20th in preparing and serving a meal for Family House patients and their families to enjoy. Family House provides a special “home away from home” for patients and/or their families who are in Pittsburgh seeking medical treatment. By offering convenient, affordable housing in a home-like environment, Family House reduces the emotional and financial stress for people facing a medical crisis in a city where they may be strangers.

Agenda:
4:30 – 5:30 pm Preparing food and set up for serving
5:30 – 7:00 pm Serving food
7:00-7:30 pm Clean up

Parking at Neville is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Usually these spots are filled by their guests,but if there is room you are welcome to use those spots. There is one-hour permit only street parking on Neville until 6 PM which means that if you park at 5 PM or later, your car will be safe until the end of your volunteering time. Alternatively, if Neville is full, there is street parking available one block away on both Centre and Fifth Avenue.

Please note there are limited spaces for this event and all help is needed by those who plan to attend. If you register but cannot attend, please email outreach@pyp.org so we can fill all available spaces. Family House is counting on us!
